We hosted amazing speakers such as Jeffrey Dungen (CEO of reelyActive), Alison Sinclair (published sci-fi author), Hadi Adel (musician and performer), Christina Agapakis (scientist, writer and artist at UCLA), Ovidiu Mija (COO of Outpost.Travel), Alain Tascan (CEO of Sava Transmedia and co-founder of Ubisoft Montreal) and Jakub Dzamba (founder of Third Millenium Farming).
I learned a few things, some about myself, others, more general. I want to share my lessons and difficulties, in hopes that you, reader, will be able to relate and avoid stepping on the same rake twice.
First, I realized I loved leadership. Not that I didn't know this in the past, but I now realize that I do not see myself performing my best in any other role. But being a good leader is difficult. Here are some skills that I really got to work on, and others that I found were invaluable in the process:
